One more week until…
We reunite on the dance floor 🥰
We reminisce about all that we’ve overcome in 2021 ☯️
We recharge & kick off the new year together with a bang 🖤
It’s been a tough ass year, but we’ve come out of it stronger than ever, and we can’t wait to celebrate with you all at Chic N Freak. This year, we’re partnering up with owner of Little Black Diamond, Adrienne Abella, to put on our first ever Freak Flag Fashion Show. We’ll be highlighting dope pieces by Little Black Diamond, Thriftsy Clothing, That Dome Piece, and Death Trip Vintage, but this isn’t going to be your typical catwalk. Models will express themselves through their unique & bold outfits while also telling a story– their story.
We caught up with Adrienne to give ya a run down on what to expect– check it out:
What exactly is the Freak Flag Fashion Show?
The Freak Flag Fashion show is a two part self expression showcase and celebration. Each model will access and display their inner pleasure, power, and playfulness through not only their unique looks, but also their runway walk. Models will be fully embracing every moment and wearing their hearts on their sleeves❤️ They will bare a piece of their soul as they burn down the runway through a flow performance or a short skit that highlights their personality. There will be celebrations of all kinds of love: love between friends, love between lovers, and of course self love. But most of all, we’ll be celebrating that we’re alive, we’re here, and we made it. We may have experienced different types of loss, but there is so much to be hopeful about. And that’s the whole point of New Year’s Eve✨
What do you want people to take away from the Freak Flag Fashion Show?
The point of the show is celebrating who we all are on a soul level, and the fact that genuine, fun, & playful expression is healing. I want partygoers to look at my models embodying their authentic, sexy self from the inside out and feel inspired to let loose (while still being respectful of others of course)– from the rhinestone on their cheek, to the glitter on their kimono, and just how good they feel inside overall. The goal is for everyone to connect with each other, be unapologetically extra, celebrate the fact that we’ve made it this far in this crazy world, and have a fucking blast!🥳
What has been your favorite part of 2021 as a creator and what are you looking forward to most in 2022?
My faMy favorite part of 2021 has been the fact that I’ve learned so much through how difficult this past year was because of my business almost ending, the world changing, and constantly wondering, “should I give up?” I’ve realized just how much your internal universe affects everything on the outside. I’ve had moments of doubt and challenges as a creator, mother, and person. Through breathing, meditating, and aligning my energy, I’ve learned to create from a place of joy and pleasure, rather than focusing on the pressure of sales– it’s not all about grinding 24/7 and suffering to ‘make it.’ Once I started replacing those lies with what felt good and true to my body, the world started shifting in a positive way🌞 You can always learn and grow from any bad situation. I’ve taken that lesson and started fully applying it to everything I do.
What I’m most looking forward to in 2022 is being able to be around other humans again. We’ve learned just how vital it really is to connect and physically be with each other. I’m also going to be releasing a lot of new collaborations, which is one of my favorite things to do. I love supporting my friends and other women with independent fashion businesses. It’s so cool when you get over the competition aspect of it– these collaborations are like a cool art baby🥰 I’m excited to show you all of Little Black Diamonds new pieces featuring fresh designs and risks that just feel good!
