In The Bag Productions is a boutique event production company, focused on creating 1-of-1 experiences and bringing out every attendee’s inner-weird through over-the-top decor, imaginative themes and WOW factors.
From dance crews and marching bands to cheerleading squads, aerialist duos and professional wrestlers, In The Bag is
“where the people are the party.”
Their community comes alive on the dance floor and energetically becomes part of the experience through on-theme costumes, immersive activations and more. Larger than a line-up, In The Bag stimulates connection through experience, and expression through all forms of artistic creativity.
For this year’s Chic N Freak NYE 2023, we’ve invited In The Bag Productions to take on one of three stages and bring their signature eccentric production to Coasterra, a waterfront venue with unobstructed views of San Diego’s downtown skyline and, surely, fireworks on New Year’s Eve. Expect their trademark elements: surprise live performances, themed decor, infectious energy and all things weird. Their lips are sealed for now, but their special touch will definitely make you smile.
In The Bag’s lineup will feature five resident DJs – DBT, DON RAYON, MOWGLII, JENNY VOSS, and JACK DADDY – who each have their own selector styles across electronic music subgenres from disco to techno to bass and more.
The stage’s headliner will be DBT, an acronym for Do Big Things, who will do exactly that. DBT (Nate) is a seasoned DJ and global brand who has played and hosted experiential music & lifestyle events both home (Washington D.C., Miami, Las Vegas, San Diego, Joshua Tree) and abroad (Ibiza, Portugal, Mexico, Croatia, Italy) for over 12 years, driven to bring more intention to the scene.
You may have already felt the magic of The Bag at one of their sold out experiences in San Diego or Las Vegas. Most recently, In The Bag ran the ropes for BAGMANIA, a royal rumble of heavyweight house and techno at Spin Nightclub that featured a live wrestling match, dueling aerialists, a thumb wrestling championship, and an electric violinist. To set the tone, the club was decked out to resemble a wrestling ring with a custom 12-foot projection mapped championship belt framing the main stage; a GLOW (Gorgeous Ladies Of Wrestling) activation with Nintendo 64 playable on retro TVs; and a comedic Bag O’ Fame activation at the side stage.
Some other recent claims to fame include HOMECOMING in July 2021 when Spin Nightclub was transformed into In The Bag High. Field goal posts framed the main stage; 7-foot-tall mascots hovered over the dance floor; interactive yearbooks covered the walls; lockers were stuffed with all things high school. Aside from an all-star lineup of house and techno DJs including DJ Susan, a surprise halftime show featured stunts by Cheer San Diego Extreme, a live marching band, a sports announcer, a singing performance by JENNY VOSS, and a choreographed dance by NBC’s World of Dance’s Fuego Dance Crew.
This year, In The Bag also got down and dirty in Las Vegas with an official EDC afterparty at downtown’s late-night house and techno haven, DISCOPUSSY with Aussie legend PARTIBOI69. NSFW activations and decor included sex toys; horse costumes; FOOT69, a Foot Locker-inspired installation stacked with New Balances; STYLE69, where guests came as themselves and left styled in a signature PARTIBOI69 look; and Gallery69, a collection of larger-than-life canvases of the headliner himself.
Other notable themes include The Juicebox, The Tub, The Wig Out, The 1% and The Ark.
While their lips are sealed on all the WOWs for Chic N Freak, this team is always full of surprises you won’t want to miss.
